Moments Magazine is an event planning and inspiration publication right here in Calgary. It's filled with awesome ideas, great articles and interesting interviews with some of the very best in event planning.

I was lucky enough to connect with Lisa Gareau, the magazine's heart and soul. She had a super creative idea for her Food Trends article – place it on top of a chalkboard map of Canada. Obviously I was thrilled with the idea and got started designing immediately.

The next thought that came to my mind was a Ms. Melanie Dawne – one of the very best wedding and lifestyle photographers in Calgary. She was on board with taking the shot of this 3'x4' chalkboard. Yes! Everything was falling into place!

Lisa and her team were so awesome to work with. I designed the mockup of the board digitally, with direction from Lisa and her Art Director. Once we all gave it the thumbs up, I got to work with my "butter stix" by Jaq Jaq Bird - a really cool set of chalk that looks like it's dry but doesn't smudge (you can get them here). I finished the entire thing within about 5 hours. Phew!

Melanie stopped by to get the board and brought it to her beautiful studio in Cochrane to shoot it. Because Melanie is Melanie (which means awesome), she took this styled shot of the board as well. It's so gorgeous!

After Melanie edited the final shot, I sent the high resolution files to Moments Magazine for them to work their magic on the layout.

This magazine is so great and I'm happy to have landed some ad space in it too (see my ad below). I attended the launch party of issue 2 which was an absolute blast. I did up some chalkboards for the launch which are pictured below :)
